Domo has two ways to group people, and it's normal to wonder which to use. The difference is simple when you think about the purpose of each group.
Discipleship: for growing
A discipleship is a space for formation and walking alongside. It can be a one-on-one relationship (a discipler with one person) or a small group that meets regularly to grow together.
Use it for: cell groups, study groups, personal discipleship, new-believers groups.
You'll find it in the menu as Discipleships.
Ministry: for serving
A ministry is a serving team. It has a leader (and sometimes a co-leader) and members who fulfill a function, each with their role.
Use it for: worship, welcome, children's ministry, sound, intercession, cleaning.
You'll find it in the menu as Ministries.
In short
| | Discipleship | Ministry |
|---|---|---|
| For what | Growing and being cared for | Serving in an area |
| Typical form | One-on-one or small group | Team with roles |
| Automatic meetings | Yes, if you set day and time | No |
The same person can be in a discipleship and in one or more ministries at the same time. They're different things and they complement each other.
